I love this blogpost by Michael Kelley. This comparison between Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts made me think of our church. You won’t find a latte, but the coffee is great and you can’t beat the price…just like the gospel…there is nothing that tastes better and the price has been paid.

Interesting piece-it makes me think about another comparison with the once superlative Starbucks-ie between it and Tim Hortons. A new Timmy Hos opened here in Warren PA 2 mos ago. The 2 owners work their butts off there every day, talk us to customers (me and my 2 youth pastor buddies have prob been there more often than anyone else LOL)and make us feel appreciated and wanted. I dont know if church is supposed to be like Cheers (where everybody knows your name), but I am persuaded that one is supposed to feel a sense of being welcomed and belonging…
Bob, I think that’s exactly what the church should feel like. We want to create a “come as you are culture” and when folks come as they are we want them to experience and know through our actions and conversations that they matter deeply to God and us.
amen!
